MI-T Form (Solicitud de Autorización Inicial)
The MI-T is the official Spanish application form used by the main applicant to request the Digital Nomad Residence permit (Autorización Inicial de Residencia para Teletrabajadores de Carácter Internacional). It is filed with UGE and must match passport data exactly.
MI-F Form (Family Application)
The MI-F form is used to request residence for family members of the main Digital Nomad applicant — spouse or registered partner, dependent children and dependent ascendants. One MI-F per family member is filed.
Modelo 790-038 (State Fee)
Modelo 790 code 038 is the state fee for processing initial residence applications under the international mobility framework, including the Digital Nomad Residence permit. Proof of payment must be uploaded with the application.
Remote Work Authorisation Letter
Employed applicants must submit a letter from their foreign employer authorising fully remote work from Spain. Freelancers submit equivalent letters from their main clients. The letter is one of the most-rejected documents when wording is incomplete.
Company Registration Certificate
Applicants must prove that the foreign employer or client company has been operating for at least 1 year. This is done with a recent extract from the company registry of the country where the company is incorporated.
Criminal Record Certificate
Every applicant aged 18+ must submit a criminal record certificate from every country they have lived in during the last 5 years. This is one of the slowest documents to prepare, so start it early.
Declaration of No Criminal Record (Last 5 Years)
In addition to the official criminal record certificate, the applicant must sign a personal sworn declaration confirming the absence of any criminal records during the last 5 years in all countries of residence.
Power of Attorney (Notarial)
Applicants who cannot file in person or sign with a Spanish digital certificate authorise a representative via a notarial Power of Attorney (poder notarial). This is essential for many remote applicants.
Declaration of Entry into Spain
Non-EU nationals entering Spain from a non-Schengen country without passport stamping must file the Declaración de Entrada within 72 hours at a National Police station. This declaration is often required as proof of legal entry for in-country DNV applications.
Apostille and Sworn Translation
Foreign public documents submitted in the Digital Nomad Residence file generally need an apostille (Hague Convention) followed by a sworn translation into Spanish (traducción jurada). Getting this combination right is the most common point of failure in applications.
